Pastor AndrewEveryone matters. Whoever you are, wherever you are from, and wherever you may or may not be going, you mean something. Your ideas, faith, doubts, fears, and inclinations are important and God places great value on you. You matter.

I am honored to be the senior pastor at The Peoples Church, where we celebrate the radical notion of God’s love, care, and concern for all people – the young, old, married, single, learners, teachers, faithful, and doubtful. This is a congregation that shows the inclusive acceptance of God’s love in Jesus Christ and makes it abundantly known in the way we relate to one another, grow with one another, serve with one another, and find ways for all others to be a part of this family.

Our legacy of hospitality through grace is admirable at The Peoples Church. Let us strive to build on this history of faithful living by refocusing on the call we have to be members of the Body of Christ. I invite you to consider these four areas of growth.

  • Community – All are welcome at The Peoples Church

“Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it” – Hebrews 13:2

Every member and visitor should feel as though they are among friends when we are gathered together at The Peoples Church. Whether you worship with us each and every Sunday or every Sunday now and again, you are always welcome here. Let us remember we are equally called and invited to be a part of God’s family. May our gatherings here be joyful family reunions.

  • Education – Encourage lifelong discipleship and growth

“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is preferable to silver.” – Proverbs 16:16

As part of the baptismal service the congregation promises to help the new member of our faith grow through a community committed to learning, discernment, and exploration of one’s faith. We must be sure to provide Christian education opportunities for all our members; toddler, teen, young, old, somewhere in between or a lifelong learner. Regardless of how much or how little you may know about your faith, you are encouraged to ask questions within a safe community of people committed to one another in faith.

  • Service – We are called to put our faith into action.

“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God is in them.” – 1 John 4:16

Jesus tells us that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends. Volunteering, serving, sharing, and inviting are all ways we respond to God’s love by sharing it with others. We must lovingly engage our community at all levels by using our passions, our commitments, and our ideas to creatively demonstrate the family of God inside and outside of the congregation.

  • Stewardship – Generous and thankful hearts.

“Do not be discouraged, any of you. Do the work, for I am with you.” – Haggai 2:4

Stewardship is a partnership with God and with one another. God has given to us abundantly and continues to shower blessings upon us daily. We here at The Peoples Church, rely on the generosity of our participants who so graciously give of their time, talent and treasure to support the mission of this wonderful Christian community. Let us examine what it means to give, not just to the church but through the church. Let our stewardship extend beyond these walls in words and deeds.
