Youth Programs

  Betsy Aho, Director of Christian Education for Youth, has been working with the 6th-12th grade students of Peoples Church for over a decade.  She has a heart for teens, and for helping young people explore their faith through questions, games, discussion, Bible study and mission work.  Betsy feels blessed to have a position she loves at the church that she loves, and is learning from the students all the time.  She lives here in East Lansing with her husband and two elementary age children.

 The Peoples Church Youth Group (PCYG) consists of youth in 6th grade through 12th grade.  This ministry includes group Bible study and devotions, fellowship, church school, trips, retreats, 8th grade Confirmation class and a variety of group in-reach and outreach activities and projects throughout the year.  PCYG allows teens to participate in a variety of activities in a welcoming and fun environment.  The Youth Parlor is designed as a space the youth can call their own, filled with many opportunities to interact with other youth.  It is a place the teens can enjoy and feel safe exploring their Christian faith and relationship with God.

The PCYG schedule:

Sunday Morning:
9:30-10:15am – Middle High and Senior High Sunday School in the Youth Parlor, and Confirmation Class for participating 8th Graders in the Centennial Room. Sunday School for all ages happens at that time.  Friends welcome!
10:30-11:30am – Intergenerational Worship in the Sanctuary.  Youth groupers can sit with their families, or join me and other youth in the front pews on the piano side of the sanctuary.
11:30-12:15 – Coppertone Rehearsal in the Sanctuary.  Liz Reed directs this youth handbell choir that is open to all 6th-12th graders.

Wednesday Night Live Youth Schedule:
5:30-6:30pm – Dinner for everyone in the Snider Social Hall
5:30-6pm -  Youth Choir rehearsal with Mrs. Reed in the downstairs choir room.  ALL 6th-12th graders are welcome!  Youth Choir will have time to eat from 6-6:30pm.
6:30-7:30 – Youth Group time!  We may play games, have great discussion, fellowship, learn through Bible study.  Every week is different, but every week brings us closer to God, Christ, and each other as we explore our faith in new ways.  Wednesday Night Live Youth Group is for all 6th-12th Graders.  Friends welcome!
